Hair Care

Care for Your HairLike the Investment It Is.

Raw Hair Requires Real Care

Because our hair is 100% raw and unprocessed, it responds just like your natural hair — it thrives with moisture, gentle handling, and consistent care. Follow these guidelines and your Tableau Tress extensions will remain soft, lustrous, and beautiful for years.

Cleanse

Washing

  1. Detangle thoroughly before washing — always work from ends to roots.

  2. Use a sulfate-free, moisturizing shampoo. Sulfates strip natural oils and cause dryness.

  3. Wash in lukewarm water. Hot water opens the cuticle and leads to frizz and tangling.

  4. Gently squeeze shampoo through the hair in a downward motion — never scrub or pile the hair on top of itself.

  5. Rinse thoroughly until water runs completely clear.

Hydrate

Conditioning

  1. Deep condition after every single wash — this is non-negotiable for raw hair.

  2. Apply a rich, moisturizing conditioner from mid-shaft to ends. Avoid the weft/root area.

  3. Leave on for a minimum of 15–30 minutes. For best results, sit under a hooded dryer or use a heat cap.

  4. Rinse with cool water to seal the cuticle and lock in shine.

  5. Follow with a leave-in conditioner or lightweight hair milk for added moisture retention.

Detangle

Detangling

  1. Always detangle when the hair is damp and conditioned — never dry.

  2. Use a wide-tooth comb or a detangling brush. Never use a fine-tooth comb on raw hair.

  3. Start at the ends and work your way up to the roots in small sections.

  4. Hold the hair above the section you're combing to minimize tension on the weft.

  5. Be patient. Rushing through tangles causes breakage and shedding.

Style

Heat Styling

  1. Always apply a heat protectant before using any heat tool — even on raw hair.

  2. Use the lowest effective heat setting. Raw hair does not require high temperatures to style.

  3. For blow-drying, use a diffuser or low-heat setting. Air drying is always preferred.

  4. Flat irons and curling wands should be used at 300–350°F maximum.

  5. Limit heat styling to 1–2 times per week to preserve the hair's natural integrity.

Color

Coloring

  1. Raw hair can be colored, lightened, and toned — this is one of its greatest advantages.

  2. Always do a strand test before applying any color to the full bundle.

  3. We recommend having color services performed by a licensed professional.

  4. Deep condition before and after any color service to restore moisture.

  5. Use color-safe, sulfate-free products after coloring to maintain vibrancy and health.

Store

Storage

  1. When not installed, store your hair in a silk or satin bag to prevent tangling and friction.

  2. Keep hair on a hair stand or mannequin head to maintain its natural pattern and shape.

  3. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and humidity.

  4. Never store hair while wet — always ensure it is fully dry before putting it away.

  5. Braid or loosely twist the hair before storing to prevent matting.

Expert Tips

A Few More Things to Know

Moisturize Weekly

Apply a light oil (argan, jojoba, or castor) to the hair weekly to maintain sheen and prevent dryness.

Protect at Night

Wrap your hair in a silk scarf or sleep on a silk pillowcase every night. Friction is the enemy of longevity.

Avoid Product Buildup

Heavy products like butters and thick creams can cause buildup on the weft. Use lightweight formulas and clarify monthly.

Trim When Needed

Trim split ends as needed to keep the hair looking fresh and prevent further splitting up the shaft.
